WANGANUI BURNS’ CLUB

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. The Burns Club held their annual general meeting last night in St. Paul’s Hall before a large attendance of members. Air J. Grant presided. The report and statement of accounts were adopted with great enthusiasm, the president commenting on the sound position of the club and congratulating the office-bearers on their good work during the year. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:— Patron, Air Ewen Campbell; president, Air Peter Doull; vice-president, Air Geo. ATitchell; hon. vice-presidents: Afessrs W. A. Veitch, R. J. Glasgow, and N. McKenzie Forbes; hon. bard, Rev. J. Paterson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Air Jas. McDonald; committee: Messrs Grant, Mac Kay, McDougall, Smith, Roddick, Cowie and Shields; ladies’ committee: Miss Mitchell, Aliss Calder, Airs Paterson, Airs Cairncross, Afrs Beale; accompaniste, Miss P. Alurray.

After the election of officers Air J. Grant presented Aliss Alurray with a bound volume of Scottish songs for her work during the years. Aliss Alurray returned thanks very gracefully. Then after songs were rendered by Alisses Bateman, Spurdie and Crysail, and a Highland dance by Aliss AfcDouald, Auld Lang Syne brought a fine evening to a close.
