THE RAIDS ON IRAQ
AIR FORCE MOVEMENTS ATTITUDE OF KING OF THE HEDJAZ. (A. & N.Z.) LONDON, March 26. In the House of Commons, Mr L. S. Amery informed Commander J. M. Kenworthy that he was not consulted before the licenses were granted in November, 1927, for the export of 2,000,000 Lee Enfield cartridges to the Hedijaz Government, but the Foreign Office service departments were consulted.
The latest information was that the King of Hedjaz disassociated himself from the natives’ recent aggression and had not supplied them with munitions.
A Basra message reports tht picked pilots experienced in desert campaigning have arrived from England, but further Wahabi trouble is not expected until the cold season. The desert wells, on which the raiders depend, are already drying. The defenders, however, are taking no risks.
