After six years’ residence in Fordell, Mr E. G. Simons, stationmaster, has been promoted to Hunterville, and leaves to-day for his new position. Air and Airs Simons have associated themselves with most of the social and business activities of Fordell, and consequently their departure will involve a serious loss to the district.

On Monday afternoon a large gathering of friends met in the Public Hall to give them a token of the regard and esteem of the community. After Air J. Belton (Horticultural Society), Air S. E. Lloyd (Tennis Club and the school committee), Air D. McGregor (farmers) and Air Howie (hall committee) had expressed general gratitude for the good work done in Fordell by the guest of the afternoon, Airs W. J. Polson (in the unavoidable absence of Air W. J. Polson) handed Air and Airs Simons a travelling rug and a canteen of cutlery as souvenirs of their stay in Fordell. Air Simons feelingly responded.
