WEDDING HENDERSON—HAYES [ Siiejial “ Chronicle ” Service ] A pretty wedding was solemnised in St. Andrew’s Church, Bulls, on Wednesday, February 29, when Edna, oiliest daughter of Mrs A. Guinan and the late Richard Hayes, of Otaki, was married to Robert Livingstone, eldest son of the late James Henderson, late of Ohakea. The Rev. H. E. Jones, M.A., of Ohakea performed the ceremony.

The bride wore a French model of crepe de cheije with fawn trimmings., with hat and shoes to tone and carried a bouquet of asters intermingled with maidenhair fern. She was attended by Miss Muriel Guinan as bridesmaid, in cornflower crepe de chene, with a hat to match.

The bride was given away by her brother, Mr John D. Hayes and Mr Victor Guinan was best man.

A reception was afterwards held at Sonia House, where Mrs A. Guinan received her guests in a nigger-brown crepe de chene frock. The couple received many presentr and one of the most appreciated was a handsome set of stainless cutlery from the “lads” of Sonia House. PLUNKET SOCIETY. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Bulls branch of the Plunket Society was hfld in the Clifton Hall on Monday afternoon, Mrs H. A. Goodall presiding over a fair attendance of members. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mrs H. A. Goodall; vice-presidents, Mesdanics E. Wilson and F. A. Holland. General Committee: Mesdanies H. Goodall, F. Wilson, F. A. Holland, M. Schaub, J. B. Robins, S. Avery and Miss Green; hon. secretary and treasurer, Miss Green; hon. auditor, Mr 11. A. Goodall.

Votes of thanks were passed to Mr R. A. Wilson for the donation of a set of Plunket scales; Miss N. Wilson for the free use of the Clifton Hall; and to Mr S. Sharp for the free conveyance of the nurse from Greatford station.

The balance-sheet was read and adopted, showing a credit balance of £l4 16s. However the society is still in need of funds to pay the nurse’s salary of £lB and other incidental expenses.. TENNIS. The following games have been played in the second round of the handicap tournament for Mr A. IL Bill’s gold medal: Miss E. McGregor (14) defeated Miss Z. Ralfe (13) 42—40; Mrs Bullard (3) defeated Miss Ralfe (13) .0 —33; Mrs Bullard (3) defeated Miss McGregor (14) 40—34; Mrs Marumaru (13) defeated Miss McGregor (14) 40—37; Miss Ralfe (13) lost to Mrs Marumaru (13) 40 —29; Mrs Law (scr.) defeated Mrs Mansell (5) 40 —32. The following are the recent “ladder” games played:—Miss Ralfe 30 defeated Miss Mansell 26, Miss McGregor 30, defeated Mrs F. Wilson 25; Miss Goodall 25 lost to Miss Duncan 30; Miss Duncan 26 lost to Mrs F. Wilson 30; P. Hollis 9* defeated R. Mansell 7; D. McKenzie 9 defeated D. Walker 6; Miss Duncan 30 defeated Miss Goodall 25.

Entries for the men’s handicap singles are coming in well but a reminder is given that entries will close on Friday. It is hoped that a Yankee Tournament will be held during the Easter holidays. ‘‘WHAT PRICE GLORY” New York rocked with laughter for more than a season at the comcrly scenes in “What Price Glory,” the William Fox s&ene version of the celebrated stage success by Laurence Stallings and Maxwell Anderson, which will be screened at the Bulls Town Hall this evening. The critics of the metropolitan dailies were unanimious in their commendation of this supreme motion picture achievement.
