DOG TRIALS CLUE [ Special “ Chronicle ** Service j A meeting of the Dog Trial Club was held recently, Mr H. J. Wilson presiding. Mr E. Parsons was elected president for the ensuing year. The question of a new ground was debated and after being put to the vote it was decided to remain on the present course (Mr H. J. Wilson’s ground) as the close proximity of the railway and township made it the most suitable. Another meeting will be held on Thursday night. THE WEATHER The welcome rain on Saturday will have a beneficial effect on the grass, which. has come on wonderfully this month. The milk supply has improved and the cream is keeping up well FOOTBALL The members of the Waitotara Football team are practicing for a seven-a-side tournament to be held at Wavcrlcy on Easter Saturday when it is hoped* to .have one, and perhaps two, teams to represent the club. MAORI SPORTS The annual Maori sports were held on the grounds of Air T. E. Wilson, on Wednesday last. There was a ver* fair attendance and as the club was» favoured with bright sunshine a happy time was spent by all present, added interest being given by the motor boat racing, won by Air Peat and the eel spearing competition. Air J. Hurley’s Flying Saud looked a certain winner until nearing the winning post where he struck engine troub’e and eventually finished third. Air C. Day’s S.O.S. filling second place. PERSONAL Air and Airs H. J. Wilson and their son Maurice will return home during the week after spending a holiday in the Te Aroha district. Mr W. P. Harpur (stationmaster) and family will leave this week for Marton, to which place he has been promoted to chief booking clerk. Air Prain, of Halcombe, will be his successor.
