The latter is a daughter of Police-Superintendent Emerson, of Wellington, and has spent seven months in New Jersey (U.S.A.) at the Vineland Training School for children whose minds are not normally developed. They had previously charge of a special class at Wellington for backward children, and were granted leave of absence to train at Vinelands.
