THURSDAY’S FIXTURE BIG ELECTRIC LIGHT MEETING The Wanganui Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club are holding a sports meeting on Cook’s Gardens on Thursday evening next, for which a first class programme has been arranged. One of the star attractions W’ill be the 100 yards club championship for the handsome silver cup presented by one of the club’s original members, Air Gifford Alarshall. The Bruen Alcmorial Cup is for a 120 yards open race and is sure to see a big field. The Empson Cup, presented thirty years ago by Air Walter Empson, is the most coveted trophy the club possesses, and a great race should be witnessed in the quarter mile scratch race to decide its holder for the current season. The Pridham Cup should see another keen contest, as the competitors scoring most points over two distances of 100 and 220 yards will hold this trophy for the year. The Zinox Cup was presented by Messrs R. and E. Tingey and Co. and is for the competitor scoring most points in the half ana one mile handicap events. Cycling Events The cycling events are alvrays full of interest and as the riders are'at the top of their form at present, the public should see some line racing. The sports gatherings organised by this club have always been well controlled and the public are assured that Thursday’s fixture will be right up to the standard.
