MULTUM IN PARVO

NEW PORTABLE RADIO MORRISON’S HAVE OUTSTANDING EXHIBIT. A busy showground, with crowds passing in and about, merry-go-rounds blaring forth raucous melodies and an orchestra composed of noisy machinery playing a series of discords in the near distance, is hardly the place for a radio demonstration, yet in the tent of D. A. Morrison and Co. a small box less than a foot square gave forth music from Christchurch clearly and with good volume. This was the “Trav-Ler/’ the Morrison firm’s latest offering. Measuring about 12in. x 9in. x 10in., this compact portable requires no aerial and no earth. The lid lifts up to disclose a tiny aerial about two inches long, and the batteries and loud-speaker are neatly fitted in below. Selling at the moderate price of £29 10s, this little machine is capable of remarkable work. This week Mr Morrison picked up no fewer than 11 Australian stations with clearness and volume well marked. The “Trav-Ler” weighs only a few pounds, and is an ideal companion on boating or motoring trips. The remarkable Bremer-Tully counterphase—the Rolls Royce of Radio — is also featured at Morrisons’ stand in six and eight-valve types, and another exhibit that is sure to attract great attention to-day is the Stewart Warner set, complete at £29 17s 6d. Morrisons are also agents for the Crosley, five or six-valve sots, a feature of which is their ability to pick up distant stations that other makes have no hope of reaching. Taken all round, this firm’s display is one that should bo well and closely inspected to-day by the thousands who are interested in modern radio.
