TOURER DE LUXE AND VAN ATTRACTIVE AND WORKMANLIKE Two of the arresting exhibits in the motor section of the show are the Ford Tourer and the Ford light delivery van. The Ford De Luxe Tourer takes the eye at once with its neat, workmanlike and attractive appearance, and appeals as a car that should fill the dual purposes of pleasure and utility. Duco painted in acquamarine blue and smoke grey, the Tourer has the pleasing lines that make for satisfaction on the part of the purchaser, and the Spanishgrained leather of the upholstering gives it an appearance of ease and comfort that is not belied on closer inspection and. trial of the comfortable wellsprung, and roomy seating accommoda tion. Fitted with the latest in well-base wire wheels, five of which comprise the standard equipment of the Tourer, the model has a special feature that will appeal in these days of petrol taxes. This is the special carburettor, built by Ford, designed to take secondgrade benzine, thus giving more power and greater mileage with reduced cost, making for most economical running. The rear seat, an extra wide one, will seat three persons, while the front one has room to seat two in comfort without any cramping of the limbs. Storm curtains that open and close with the doors of the car, with rearvision mirror and windshield wiper, are accessories that are part of the standard equipment of the car which complete as seen on the showgrounds, is priced at the extremely low figure of £165.
Ford has, it is stated, built 15,000,000 cars to date, so it would be interesting to know just what number the car demonstrated would be as it is so “up to the minute. 91 Much interest will be evinced in the New Beauty half-ton light delivery van which also graces the Ford exhibit. It is an outstanding example of efficiency and attractiveness combined, and is so adaptable for quick delivery on the part of butchers, bakers, grocers and other retailers that it is bound to appeal to them. With double doors, sliding door behind the driver’s seat, shelves and ventilating slots, the van is equipped with electric light, self-starter, full balloon tyres (spare included) and many other accessories that make its low price of £165 seem almost incredibly low.
