RETIRES FROM RING LES MURRAY, LIGHTWEIGHT HIGHLY ESTEEMED IN STATES (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Nov. 9. Les Murray, who for six years held the title of lightweight champion of New Zealand, has announced his retirement from the ring. Murray forfeited his title to Charle Purdy by his absence from the Dominion over the prescribed time and during his sojourn in the States aspired to the world’s title without success, although he put up several good fights and won the high esteem of the American public. The Chicago Referee regards him as the ninth best lightweight in the world to-day.
