HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION
Sir, —The chairman of the Wanganui Hospital Board (Dr. Skerman) in his letter Appearing in Tuesday’s “Chronicle” does not dispute the figures quoted in my communication which appeared in the “Chronicle” of the 4th. inst» He merely states that the figures refer to the year ending March 31, 1926 18 months ago —and adds that the cost per bed to March 31, 1927, at the Wanganui Hospital was £l7O (still £l3 per bed more than at the Palmerston Hospital, as previously stated). Even admitting that the Wanganui Hospital Board has succeeded in reducing the cost per bed at the Wanganui Hospital to £l7O, no light is shown by Dr. Skerman as to how that stands in relation to the other hospitals I mentioned for the year ending March 31, 1927. This is the information the ratepayers require and I would, respectfully ask Dr. Skerman to supply your readers with the necessary comparative statement taken from the annual report of the Health Department for“YEc year ending March 31, 1927. SEARCHLIGHT. November 8.
