BOOKS BURNED
BASTIA TOWER BLAZE WORKS FOREMAN CLAIM The City Council has received a request from Mr J. Hallinan, clerk of works on the Bastia Water Tower, asking that he bo reimbursed,' for the loss of his instruments and books by fire at the office on this work. The works committee reported that it could not recognise any liability in the matter. In a further letter Mr Hallinan stated that he had to have these valuable books and instruments at the work to enable him to carry out a very difficult task on which he claimed ho had very little assistance.
The matter was referred bdfck to the committee.
