HELPING THE POOR AN APPEAL FOR FUNDS Belying solely upon the public for funds with which to carry on its work, the Wanganui District Nursing League for 20 years has carried its mission among the suffering poor. Now the Government subsidy of £1 for £1 has been withdrawn and the League has urgent need of money to continue its work. To-morrow (Wednesday), assisted by the Wanganui College Old Girls’ Assi?> ciation and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, members of the League will hold? a sale of flowers, sweets, and produce in the Wanganui Meat Freezing Company’s premises in Victoria Avenue, and donations of these goods will be gratefully accepted. A ’phone message to 2544 will ensure their being called for-
No collection will be made in the street, but men will be asked to buy buttonholes.
