AMUSEMENTS AND MEETINGS
THE DUCHESS THEATRE * (Aramoho)
Life in the rough, and the eternal* battle of the sexes, staged in Nature s most gorgeous and primitive settings might fittingly describe the unusual adventure epic, “The Desert’s Toll,” screening at the Duchess this afternoon and to-night. Francis McDonald, recently elevated to stardom, and? who is being presented in a serie* of out-of-the-ordinary stories, is surrounded by a notable cast including Kathleen Key, Tom Santsehi, Anno May Wong and other favourites. The story is cleverly built, and provides thrills and plenty of excitement. An excellent supporting programme is included on the programme, including a two reel comedy, scenic (further travels with the Duke and Duchess of York in New Zealand), Pathe News and “Never Say Never,” the final story of “The Telephone Girl” series. The new serial “Fighting With Buffalo Bill,” screening at the matinee only will commence to-diay.
