SWIMMING
GONVILLE CLUB FIRST OF THE SEASON. LAST THURSDAY’S EVENT. The first race of the Gonville Swimming Club’s season was held at the Gonville baths on Thursday evening. There were seven starters for the event, a 25-yards sprint, and a close finish resulted in G. Beaven winning by a narrow margin from Don Chisholm, with R. Quarrie close up third. The time was 14sec. Next Thursday evening there will be a 50 yards free style race and a 50 yards breaststroke event, which should attract a large entry.
