TELEPHONE ATTACHMENT “LOUD SPEAKER” BEING TESTET [ Special “ Chronicle ’* Service, li WELLINGTON, Nov. 3. Special arrangements have beei made by the Post and Telegraph Do partment fop testing out a load speakei installation, for use on telephones bj people who suffer from bad hearing. One such amplifier has been import ed and is now in use on a business telephone in Wellington. The results, it is understood, are highly satisfactory. The amplifier is a small wooden box which is connected with the telephone and the degree of sound may be regulated easily. Unless “tuned” by a small button, the hearing is not affected for nominl persons.
