LATEST FROM THE COURSE. YESTERDAY’S FINAL GALLOPS [ Special *" Chronicle ** Service. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 3. Ideal weather prevailed for the final gallops at Riccarton this morning. The < ourse proper was open and provided excellent going. : Several .fine gallops were watched ■with the greatest interest. Footfall covered miles in 3.8, the [last twelve furlongs taking 2.41 2-5, and 'the last, mile 1.41 2-5. It was a very !good gallop. Bridget covered four furlongs in 49 4-5. Agrion, assisted by Phillipic and Lu'einda, went a mile in 1.44 1-5, staying ion well. ! Tea Miss went half a mile in 50sec. I Paperchase covered six furlongs in 1.16 1-5. Great Charter went a mile in 1.45 11-5. I Shirley and Benzora were associated j over six furlongs in IJL7, going well. I Childsplay sprinted three furlongs. • R’gmarole was sent half a mile, z which was left behind in 50sec. Grand Knight was sprinted throe furlongs. Black Duke and Overhaul went six furlongs in 1.18. Limerick covered a circuit at threequarter pace, finishing fast over the last half mile. Sudden Storm beat Skyquest over six furlongs, which took them 1.18. Star Stranger and Te Monanui finished ahead of Rapier at the end of a mile in 1.45 1-5. Rapier lost ground in ihe early part, but was running on at the finish. Dubious, Bachelor Gay, Fuchsia and Tarleton were schooled over four hurdles, jumping well. Silver Paper and Silver Rule were sprinted over half a mile in 49. 1-5. Centrepiece was sent seven furlongs in 1.30.

Piuthair, Battlement, Martarma and Beacon Light went a mile and a quarter in 2.10 4-5. The former pair went but Beacon Light disappointed. Bennanee covered seven furlongs in 1.31. Four Smart Sprinters. Civility, Gascony, Kiosk and Joy King finished in that order over five furlongs. Paper Boy and Don Jose covered six furlongs in 1.17. Ark Royal, Vertigem and Sir Roy were sent seven furlongs in 1.30. Silver Coot went half a mile in 49 3-5. Fair Exchange covered six furlongs in 1.17 2-5. Reremoana anil Lady Cavendish sprinted five furlongs in 1.4 2-5., but were not extended. Satrap beat Luminant and Teri over a mile in 1.44 1-5; a good gallop. Kalos and Grand National covered six furlongs in 1.17 2-5. Count Cavour and Vaward were given a task over a mile and a quarter, which was covered in 2.10, the last mile in 1.44 1-5. It was a very satisfactory gallop. Finora covered five furlongs in 1.3 David Garrick and Royal Game went a mile in 1.4£ 2-5. Aberfeldy was sent along over a mile and a quarter in 2.12. Malmsey beat The Harp over ftalf a mile in 50 1-5. Fordell Colt Derby Favourite. Laughing Prince beat Mandane over a mile in 1.41 4-5., a great gallop. The Quantock colt finished well in the best gallop of the morning. Laughing Prince will very likely be favourite for the Derby. Cornstalk and Amorist were sent six furlongs in 1.18. Ophir and Gay Bird beat Motor Smash over seven furlongs in 1.31 3-5. Money Order and Booster were sent six furlongs, the last five taking 1.4. Doree covered a mile in 1.44 1-5. Beaming and Eameses sprinted over four furlongs in 53sec. beat Margaret Birney in a seven furlong gallop in 1.30. Moratorium beat Tembroney over five furlongs in 1.6. Father O’Flynn beat Glad Light over halm a mile in 50 1-5. Master Clarence ran half a mile in 52 1-5. Assurance and Hoylake covered six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. Projector and Wreath of Myrtle were associated over six furlongs in 1.17. Kapuna and Gay Jim jumped several hurdles safely. Beacon Light Scratched. Beacon Light was scratched at 2.5 p.m. to-day for the New Zealand Cup. The son of Boniform and Simper was, it may be remembered, similarly scratched last year at the eleventh hour for the big two-mile race.
