WHITE FANG WINS V.Z. AT FLEMINGTON. NTNBELA WINS V.R.C. OAKS. FINE FINISHES: FAST TIMES. Received November 3. lOJj pan. (A. & N-Z.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 3. The weather was warm but dull for the third day of the Victoria Racing Club’s spring meeting at Flemington. There was a large attendance, including many ladies. The going was good. Parupa was sixth in the early part of the Hurdles journey and then came along to win brilliantly. The veteran Ro is el broke down seven furlongs from home and is to be retired. He established a record as a hurdle racer, winning £1L354 in stakes. Parupa is owned by W. Moffatt, who also raced Uxbridge. There was an exciting finish for the Byron Moore Stakes, the Cad winning in the last stride. He cost 300 guineas as a yearling. The time for the race was a record. Amounis was last to get going in the Linlithgow Stakes, but came through and scored a popular vistory. He also won this race last year and was ridden on both occasions by J. Toohey. White Fang, after lying fifth for a while after the start in the Carnival Handicap, finished best and knocked 1A sec. off the race record. He is owned and trained in Sydney and was bred in New Zealand. Ninbella was last in the first part of the Oeks race but finished with a great run. She is owned by Ben Chat* fey and trained by MeCalman. .This 's her rider, Demsey’s third success in this race and his third win at the meeting. Valorem won the Veteran Stakes very nicely after lying third in the early stages. He is trained by Jim Scobie. This is his rider, W. Duncan’s first win at the meeting, Valorem is engaged in the Williamstown Cup.

Fractional times for the Oaks were First four furlongs 564 sec., last six 1.14, last four 481. In the Linlithgow Stakes the last six took I.IOJ and the first four 4fijsec—the fastest four furlongs ever run on the course. Results—

Time; 5.41. Byrun Moore Stakes. (Six furlongs). The Cad (Lucknow —Stage Girl) 8.7 1 Maid of the Nook (All Black —Pendale), 8.5 2 Salzach (Saltash —Reap) 8.10 .... 3 Six started. The Cad won by a head, with half a length between second and third. Typhung was fourth. Time: 1.13 i. Linlithgow Stakes. (One mile). AMOUNTS. 8.13 1 VAALS. 9.2 2 GOTHIC, 8.13 3 There were four starters and Amounis won by a long neck, with Gothic half a length away. Fuji San was fourth. Time: 1.381. Carnival Handicap. (Mile and a-quarter). White Fang (Polvdamon —Natalite) 8.10 ' 1 Noseitur, 7 J .. •• 2 King Osric, 6.8 ...... 3 Eleven started and White Fang won by two lengths, a length between second and third. Time: 2.39 J. Veteran Stakes. (Mile and a-half). Valorem ( Valais-Girlah) 7.13 .. .w 1 Bard of Avon, 8.3 2 Spearset, 6.7... 3 Nine started. LONDON, Nov. 2. A meeting of Cabinet was held this morning, Sir Austen Chamberlain (Foreign Secretary) presiding in the absence of Mr Baldwin, who has gone to Edinburgh. It is understood that Mr Winston Churchill (Chancellor of the Exchequer; submitted a report of the representations made to him yesterday by the stewards of the Jockey Club for an alteration in the Gaming Act to permit the installation of totalizators on racecourses.
