AN ENTERTAINMENT

A REGULATION OF TRAFFIC CROWD LOOKS ON AT GUYTON STREET The traffic inspector on point duty ,is still a novelty to many people in Wanganui, and when the vehicles which come under the control of the men in uniform are particularly numerous, a crowd invariably collects and looks on as though operations were being staged for their particular entertainment. When the traffic surged down Guyton Street to Victoria Avenue, after the representative football match at Spriggens Park on Saturday, there wm a large auiiience at the intersection of these two thoroughfares. And the principal character in the play, Inspector G. Fear, had no trouble in holding the attention of the house. He was having a busy time of it. Back past St. Hill Street a line cars advanced spasmodically as sections received the signal to come on, while the volume of traffic from the other three points of the compass was by no means light. A small dog which made repeated attempts to cross the busy street found the task too hazardous and ho took shelter behind the inspector until the opportunity came to make a dash for it. There was a temporary holdup when the engine of an ancientlooking automobile stalled and a passenger in tho car scrambled out and got busy with the cranking handleWith the assistance of a little encouragement from “tne gallery,” the engine started and in a few seconds normal working again prevailed.
