VALEDICTORY. [ Special “ Chronicle ” Service. ] About forty railway servants and friends foregathered in the supper room at the Town Hall, Waverley, on Monday evening on June 6 to bid farewell to Air F. AfcG-owan, ganger on N.Z. Railways, who has been stationed there during the last ten years, and who has reached the retired list. Air A. J. Adlam presided, and in referring to the guest of the evening spoke of his many good qualities as a citizen of Waverley, and hoped he would be spared to enjoy his superannuation for many years. Apologies were received from Waitotara gang and many others who were unable to be present. A long toast list was honoured. During an interval Air L. Kerr (Stationmaster) took the opportunity to present Air AlcGowan with a solid leather suit case and travelling rug, and hoped he would be able to use these tokens of goodwill from his many Waverley friends for many years to come. Mr McGowan thanked his manyfriends for their nice presents. Several musical items were rendered during the evening. Air J. H. Davidson presided at the piano. PIERROT SHOW. The Wanganui Pierrots will visit the Town Hall to-morrow (Wednesday) night at 8 p.m., when a first-class concert will be staged. Prices are very reasonable, and a good programme with full effects is assured.
