POWER RESOURCES
A HUGE PROJECT CENTRAL CONTROL PROPOSED IN AMERICA. (A. & N.Z.) NEW YORK, June 11. Mr EE. C. Hoover is supervising the formation of a plan by which all power units throughout the country will be connected by a vast trunk system. The proposed connection units would consist of main and secondary lines controlled from a central point, by which in case of necessity all the power resources of the United States could be diverted to any point immediately. The system is planned with reference to water power, coal fields, the existing high-voltage transmission lines, the centres of principal power consumption, and the trans-continental railways. It is pointed out that under this system power now wasted. would bo utilised, involving the saving of 1,000,000 dollars annually. The sponsors are attempting to overcome some States’ legislation, where the plan will not now be accepted.
