DEALINGS ON SUNDAYS MAGISTRATE’S COURT CASES For keeping his shop open on Sunday and exposing goods for sale, E. D. Bourne appeared yesterday at the Wan ganui Magistrate’s Court. Defendant pleaded ignorance oE trie law. It was stated by Senior-Sergeant Lopdell that Bourne had been warned previously. The practice was growing up by small shops, open on Sunday to sell in addition to milk, sweets, fruit and cigarettes, and the police were cn- nK deavouring to stop it. Mr J. 8. Barton, S.M., said, that it was an instance of unfair trading and inflicted a fine of 20s on each charge. Sale of Butter The belief that it was permissible to sell butter on Sunday was expressed by another defendant Ada Myers. Senior-Sergeant Lojjdcll deposed that, defendant had been warned previously. In view of special circumstances, defendant was convicted and ordered U> pay 10s costs.
