MATARAWA STREAM
COUNCIL INSPECTION FLOODING IN WANGANUI EAST Conditions in the area in the vicinity of Burton Avenue, Wanganui East, where the Matarawa stream has been giving trouble, were inspected by the chairman of the Works Committee (Mr C. H. Burnett) and several other members of the City Council yesterday. The party investigated the whole locality and inspected the upper portion of the stream near Gordon Park. The results of their enquiries will be brought down at the City Council meeting tonight and in all probability a comprehensive scheme for giving immediate attention to tho trouble will be mooted. The party considered that the position is an extremely serious one, and that every effort should be made to give relief.
