SATURDAY’S RUGBY [ Special “ Chronicle " Service. ] Bulls 6, Kotahitanga 3. Kotahitanga met the Bulls seniors on the local Domain in the second round of the competition on Saturday afternoon. Col (jitions for playing were i/leal, though the ground was somewhat soft after recent rains and, though both teams were up to full strength, the game was not a brilliant exhibition of the code. The game was controlled by Air Henvvood. Kotahilanga lost the toss and BuVs elected* to play downfield?, the black forwards soon setting up an attack. From a penalty L. Green took a shot, but found the distance too great. Richar»dson then broke away and shortpunted to Fitches who was smothered by Timmins and penalised for holding on. Shortly after he sent his backs away, but Hakaria was caught in possession and Kaipara broke away to return play to blacks’ twentyfive. Bulls forwards carried play to half-way where, from a cross-kick, InI gram beat Wharamu for possession and swerved through to score in a handy position, but Timmin’s kick was just outside. Bulls 3; Kotahitanga 0. Play then became fast, Haitana secured and passing on to Wharamu was collared on the line by Ingram. The visitors attacked again an di Johnson. who was playing prominently at half, secured and transferred to Paki who mulled the effort by attempting to “pot.” From a scrum Paki again got the ball to he brought down on the line by AlcKenzie. Haitana made great solo effort, hut he passed forward* as half-time was railed. The black forwards were on the hall from the kick-off, hut Haitana and Paki carried play hack to half-way. L. Green instituted a forward movement placing the magpies’ lino momentarily in donger, Haitana relieving and passing to Paki who was ruled forwards L. Green making another fruitless attempt at goal. Kaipana made a strong run, but. the visitors were too anxious and faulty handling ended in a. likely movement. Timmins brought the play hack again and Westward and Ellery carried’* on. Paki badly heat the home backs and short-kicked to AfcKcnzie who saved the situation by lining in neutral territory. Ellery and Timmins carried play to the magpies’ line, where Paki relieved with a long kick. Tn an exchange of kicks the visitors came out best and Haitana, from a mark, dropped a good goal. Bulls 3; Kotahitanga 3. The Bulls pack carried* play upfield, where from a free kick. Timmins just missed goaling. Fitches was called upon twice to defend, hut relieved with good safe kicks. The magpies were awarded a free kick ami for a short while their rearguard hadi a rest, but the Bulls forwards came hack again and Fitches was caught with the ball but Timmins missed. Timmins secured from the drop-out and made ground to transfer to TTru. From a serum, Johnson sent the Kotahitangas away. Haitana being grassed. Ellery. L. Green and TTru carried play hack and bustled Fitches, Green falling over on to the hall. The same player just missed with the kick. Bulls G; Kotahianga 3. There was no further score.

GENERAL NEWS The Ohakea hall held on Friday evening, 'despite the wretched weather, was a success, visitors being present from Wanganui, Afarton, Feilding and Palmerston North. Tn all, about 100 couples were on the floor. The hall was artistically decorated and the floor was in perfect condition. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Afessrs R*. Anderson. B. J. Frecklington, W. and H. Ellery and S. Ingram. During the supper sittings extras were played by Mrs B. J. Frecklington, Afiss Af. O’Brien and Afr J. Gilbert (2). It is understood* that the school funds will benefit by nearly £3O. BANGITZKEI GOLF CLUB The first round of the L.G.U. Bronze Medal Competition was played on Friday afternoon, the best nett score being returned by Mrs F. F. Ralfe, whose card read lOS—34 —74. Fourteen competed. On Saturday afternoon a men’s bogey competition was played, the games being evenly contested although the ground was somewhat wet after the recent downpour. A. K. Drew and Geo. Nicholson tied for first place each with a handicap of 18 and being four up on bogey. Twenty-five competed*, three halving with bogey. Next Saturday afternoon a match has been arranged with the Seafield Club aneb ten men have been selected to visit that club. Efforts are being made for a team of Seafield ladies to visit Bulls that afternoon. Afr Galloway, the professional coach from Palmerston North, will pay his first visit to Bulls on Tuesday next, and will give lessons every week from then. Those uesirons of taking a course are requested to hand in their names to Miss Levett.
