CONDITIONS OF SHIPMENT. (Special to “Chronicle.”) HAMILTON, May 19. In answer to a request from the Waikato branch of the New Zealand Milking Shorthorn Association, that the embargo on the export of young veal be lifted, the Department of Agriculture has replied that no complaints were received in respect of the small experimental shipments made under special permit last year. It was pointed out that, on the application of any freezing company desiring to slaughter young calves for export, the granting of a special permit would be considered, subject to certain reasonable conditions. At the same time it was to be clearly understood that firms making shipments of this class of meat did so at their own risk, and beyond arranging for inspection at the time of slaughter, and granting the necessary certificates, the department could undertake no responsibility*
