AMERICAN EXPERIMENT
FATIGUE OF SCHOOL CHILDREN. An experiment to determine whether shorter hours will benefit school children both physically and mentally is to be undertaken at Richmond, Virginia. It was authorised by the school board, -when a parent-teachers’ association contended that long school hours may be responsible for unusual fatigue and underweight. Children in the first two grades will now attend school three and one-half hours a day. and those in the third grade five hours. Six hours a day heretofore have been required of all pupils.
