WAR DISABILITY REMOVED. ! John Flynn, a Blackpool clerk and exi soldier, who had been deaf and dumb •since he was shot through the head in 1915, has recovered his speech while playing in a Rugby trial match. He received a kick : n the throat and found immediately afterwards that he could talk. He is still deaf, however. Mr Flynn, who was formerly employed at the Deaf and Dumb -Institute, Blackpool, went to Liverpool in search of work, and his remarkable recovery occurred there. “I was tackled and thrown on my head,” said Air Flynn, “and in the scrummage which followed 1 was kicked in the throat. I immediately shouted. The match was stopped, and when it was found that I could speak I was overwhelmed with .congratulations. The doctor tells me that I shall never recover my hearing, the nerve centre having been shatitered. For this disability I am a life pensioner. ”
