A UNIQUE RELIC
ANCIENT RECORD OP SPITE. The Pegasus Club, London, which includes members of the Bench and Bar, and exists to encourage fox-hunting and to hold point-to-point races, gave its fourth annual ball, recently, in the dining hall of Lincoln's Inn. Mr C. B. Marriott, K.C., the president of the club, received the guests at lhe head of the main stairs. To his right was a mighty deed box, banded heavily with iron, which was presented to the society by its treasurer, in 1548.. >To his left was a case of fascinating' irelics —among them the fragment of a sixteenth century altar, and a leaden charm of the some period invoking the spirits of the moon against one llaufe Scrope. “That nothinge," runs this 400-ycar-old record of spite, “maye prosper nor goo forwarde that Raufc Scrope taketh in hande. ”
