"COOLED OFF"
BREACH OF PROMISE CASE THE OTHER WOMAN’S CHILD [Per Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, May 19. For breach of promise Mary Iris Reta Morrison secured £2OO damages against Victor Douglas Whitehead at the Supreme Court to-day. It was a story of two young people on neighbouring farms at Tikorangi who became betrothed after a long friendship. Gradually Whitehead “cooled off” and commenced living, according to witness a “high life.” In New Plymouth the other woman appeared on the scene and eventually Whitehead married her, their child being born a few months later.
The chief contention of the defence was that plaintiff’s father broke off the engagement.
