The victims rushed to the tops of the levees and awaited rescue. A relief train, loaded with food and twenty boats ,is being run through the water towards the town. It will proceed as far as possible on the tracks, after which the boats will bo unloaded to rescue the sufferers. The railroad embankment at Merville is also crowded with automobiles and household goods of refugees. Boats are being sent in many directions across the flooded sugar-bowl lands to rescue the townspeople.
