. GENERAL NEWS. [ From the " Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] The annual meeting of members of tho A. and P. Association will be hold in the Coronation Hall, Marton, on Monday evening next. In addition to the presentation of the annual report and balance-sheet, and election of officers, the question of where the next show is to be held will be discussed. RUGBY FOOTBALL. The junior football matches set clown for to-day are:—Rata v. Halcombe, at Haleombc; Bulls v. Kotahitanga, at Bulls; Athletic v. Ohingaiti, at Ohingaiti, Huntervillo v. Old Boys, at Marton. All matches start at 3 o ’clock. RANGITIKEI HUNT. The hounds met at Curl’s Bridge on Saturday. A drizzling rain fell during the afternoon .which somewhat spoilt the afternoon’s sport. There were several good runs and a fair field of followers. Amongst ’those following were::— The Master (D. G. Riddiford), DeputyMaster F. McLean, Whip A. Goodwin, Hon. Whip W. Wilson, Messrs H. R. Gaisford, D. G. Smith, R. Haise, J. Goodwin, H. McSweency, R. McKay, C. McKay, A .T. Gatrell, J. Whale, P. McCaul, L. Homos. Master 11. Gaisford, Mrs D. G. Riddiford, Misses Gaisford, McGregor, Powell, Stewart (2), and several others. On foot and in cars: Messrs R. J. Harper and party (Fcilding), W. Homes, H. Howe and others. Qualifiers were: Hallowmorn, Great Day, Banjuke, Bonifant. Franfelt ,Alaric and Risk.

TUBAKINA BOY SCOUTS A meeting of parents and others interested in Turakina Boy Scouts was held for the purpose of forming a Parents’ Controlling Committee. Rev. Catherwood presided and spoke of the advantages of tho movement. He paid tribute to the work done by Scoutmaster Rink, and urged those present to support the troop. The following committee was electe?d:—Patron,; Mr B. P. Lethbridge chairman, Rev. Catherwood; secretary, Mr M. Kitney; general committee, Messrs J. Morrison, A. Glasgow, Gabites, Hoko Karatau. In order to raise funds it was decided to hold a concert in Turakina on Tuesday, May 24. The Scouts gave a demonstration on First Aid at the conclusion of business. FOOTBALL secretary Kotahitanga Club, Un 1:1 kina, writes: “The Kotahitanga rseniors r’id not play on Saturday on account of the short notice given of the change of ground. No official notice of the alteration was receved here up to 12 noon, and it was impossible to get in touch with all players. The team were on the local ground at 2.45 ready to play. The third match was ordered to be played at Bulls, but by arrangement between Mr Weenick and tho Union it was postpone?!.”
