SUPREME COURT
SESSION AT WANGANUI SMALL CRIMINAL LIST At the opening of the Wanganui session of the Supreme Court yesterday, his Honour Mr Justice Ostler congratulated the district on the comparative absence of crime. There were only three criminal cases, one of which was for re-trial. The Grand Jury was empanelled as under:—H. J. Duigan (foreman), J. Anderson, J. Berryman, J. Calver, G. W. Carrad, J. Coull, T. B. R. Dix, A. R. Donaldson, A. Hatrick, J. McFarlane, M. McLeod, R. Notman, E. O’Meara, L. G. Paul, L. Pleasants, A. D. L. Pownall, D. R. Robbins, H. A. Ruscoe, W. Salt, J. D. Scott, G. S. Simpson, F. Symes, W. F. Therkclson. True bills were return ad.' in the two criminal cases, Rex v. Boylan, alleged indecent assault on a male, and Rex v. Catherall, alleged unlawful carnal knowledge. The case against Hedgman occupied all day, the jury finding him not guilty after a retirement of nearly three hours.
