GISBORNE CASES HAIRDRESSER IN TROUBLE [Per tress Association.! GISBORNE, May 16. Arthur Owen and Cornelius Patterson were before the Magistrate this morning for alleged breaches of the Gaming Act. The former was charged with keeping open and using his hairdressers’ premises as a comrfion gaming house, and Patterson with assisting Owen in the conduct of his business. In addition six charges of frequenting the street for the purposes of bettng were preferred against Owen. The accused pleaded not guilty. Inspector Eccles stated that the prosecution was the result of the raid on May 7. Betting materials were found in the shop and bets -would be shown to have taken place.
