INJURED ALPINISTS
MOUNT EGMONT TRAGEDY MR TAYLOR'S CONDITION UNCHANGED. The two injured members of the illfated Wanganui party which figured in the fatal accident on Mount Egmont last Wednesday, Mr Percival Taylor and Dennis Allen still remain in a private hospital in Ilawera. Mr Taylor’s condition is reported to be unchanged and is still serious, but Dennis Allen is stated to be progressing favourably. An experienced alpinist yesterday emphasised the dangers attending the exposure to climatic changes which Mr Taylor underwent, and stated that a very strong constitution was required to withstand the rigours experienced. He akso eulogised, as have numerous climbers with an intimate knowledge of Mount Egmont, the achievement of Allen in finding his way to the Dawson Falls Mountain House down the precipitous bed of the Kapuni stream.
