SO WORE OLD UNIFORM EX-NAVAL MAN’S PLIGHT [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 14. Because he was not a person serving in His Majesty’s naval forces and unlawfully wore a uniform without permission of the Governor-General, Cecil Walter Stanton ,a young man, came before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court yesterday. In pleading guilty on his behalf Mr Clarke stated that Stanton joined the Navy when he was 17, but about two years ago was discharged as 4 4 unsuitable. ” He resided with his mother, having to keep her family on very small income. “He was wearing a portion of the uniform out of sheer necessity. He did not have any other clothes.” said counsel. Stanton harej not worked for two years. 44 1 have been unable to get a job. I suppose I will have to go out and work on a farm, that all,” accused said. Mr Hunt said that he would not inflict any penalty. Stanton would be convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within six months. During that time he would l be under the wing *of Mr Campbell, probation officer.
