GENERAL NEWS [ From the “ Chronicle’s M Special Correspondent. ] The fist of a series of euchre parties in aid of the school improvement funds was held in the Town Hall on Friday evening, and, in spite of counter attractions, j'irew' an attendance of about 50 persons. Winners were: Lakes’ prizes, Miss M. Green 1. Mrs E. V. Wilosn, consolation; gentlemens’, Mr A. Signal 1, Mr Fred. Dunham, consolation. The ladies provided a splendid supper, and thanks are due to the donors of prizes, cakes, etc., and to Mr ,T. Flynn, who supplied new packs of playing cards for the party. Bulls golf "enthusiasts expected a visit from Wanganui players on SaturBulls golf enthusiasts expected a visit from Wanganui players on Saturday, but owing to the death of a prominent Wanganui-ite, Mr F. H. Latham, the visit was postponed until a later date. A large number of Territorials returned from Levin on Friday and reported having had a good time, delightful weather being their lot during the encampment. Whilst returning from the camp by mator cycle, two of the trainees, V. Guinan and J. Wightman had a spill near Foxton. They wore conveyed to that town where their injuries were attended to by Dr. Wylie, after which they were able to continue their journey home. Wightman had hi* hand rather' severely cut about. Guinan’s injuries were confined to his knee. A “shop” in aid of the British and Foreign Bible Society will be held in the Town Hall to-day. Miss N. Wilson will be in charge and it is to be hoped that the stall will be well patronised by the townspeople and visitors.
