SKINS HIDES AND TALLOW

SALE AT WELLINGTON. The Wellington Sheepskin, Hide and Tallow Merchants report as follows on Friday’s sale:—We held our fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides, tallow and sundries, submitting a large catalogue of all classes .to a good attendance cf buyers. We also offered bag wool, which sold at very satisfactory rates. For sheepskins, competition was very keen and we found prices for dry and salted skins firm at late rates. Tlisre was an exceptionally good demand for all grades of hides, carefully prepared lots coming in for particular attention. Light weights showed an appreciation of I-8d to £d per lb, while medium ami heavy weights were on a par with previous quoted rates. Yearling and kip sold well and at times showed a slight advance. Calf were keenly sought after and appreciated by l-8d to |d per lb. Tallow sold well up to late rales. The following is the range of prices:

Tallow.—ln casks, 22s 9d to 27s 6d; in tins, etc. ,18s 6d to 245. Sundries. —Horse hair, 17id to 20|d; cow tails, not quoted. RABBITSKINS AT DUNEDIN. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., Wanganui, advise having received the following report from the Dunedin office:—We offered a large catalogue at Thursday’s sale to a very full attendance of buyers. Bidding was again exceptionally keen and we have to report a very satisfactory sale, exceptionally high prices being paid for late autumns and incoming winters, these descriptions of skins selling at an advance on last sale of 6d to 8d per lb. Incoming winters made up to 112 d, early winters to 124 Ad, and an especially selected lot of winter bucks to 131 Sd. Racks and summers also met with a good enquiry and can be quoted very firm at last sale’s level.
