A revolt broke out among the Negroes on Friday, several thousand labourites seizing four towns simultaneously, disarming the police and cutting telegraph wires. Several police and civilians were killed and many were injured. Constabulary dislodged the rebels from the Town Hall at Victoria, and reinforcements are being despatched from Manila. Philippine constabulary rushed to Negro Island to quell the rebellion. Followers of the self-styled Emperor Intrencherado attempted a coup and placed him on the il Throne of the Negroes.”
