BOSWORTH BY-ELECTION ISSUE OF WRIT ORDERED (A. & N.Z.) LONDON, May 12. The writ for the by-election for Captain Gee’s seat at Bosworth has been ordered to be issued. # AUSTRALIAN LABOUR CONFERENCE AT CANBERRA (A. & N.Z. ) CANBERRA, May 13. The Federal Labour Conference decided by 22 votes to 8 to recognise the six delegates appointed by the Conroy executive as representatives of New South Wales at the conference. PAPERS LEFT BEHIND ULIMAROA’S PREMATURE DEPARTURE (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, May 13. The liner Ulimaroa sailed at 2 p.m. for Auckland. The vessel cleared the heads at one o’clock, but after being at sea a short time it was discovered that some of the ship’s papers had been overlooked and the vessel had to return for them. William Guthrie Smith, an engineer, was remanded till May 23, on a charge of breaking and entering a shop in Danncvirke (New Zealand) and stealing jewellery and money valued at £2658. TASMAN REFLOATED STEAMER ONLY SLIGHTLY DAMAGED (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, May 13. The steamer Tasman has been refloated. She is only slightly damaged and has continued her voyage to Sydney. ANOTHER AIR SMASH POLISH MACHINE OVERTURNS (Sun Cable) WARSAW, May 13. The deputy-chief of the Polish Air Force, Lieut.-Colonel Polowsky, was flying over the city when a gust of wind overturned his machine, which crashed on to an hotel roof and then fell in tatters in the street. The pilot was fatally crushed.
