S.M. COURT. | [ From the “ Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] J Tho monthly sitting of the S.M. ' Court was held here on Friday, Mr ; Barton, S.M., presiding. , Judgment was given for plaintiff, by J default in following cases: J. Wright • v. W. Read, claim £l5 12s; Patea Bor,'ough Council v. H. Hakaraia, claim £3 ; 10s. RIFLE ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Patea Rifle Association was held on Saturday evening last, Mr C. R. Honcyfleld, I president, in the chair. The annual balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £59 6s lid, and, in moving its adoption, tho president congratulated the club on its sound financial position. The following office-bearers were elected: —Patron, A. C. Christensen; president, C. R. Honeyfield; vice-presi-dents, H. G. Dickie, M.P., E. Woolright, J. Gibbs, A. J. Gibbs, W. R. Morse, E. Neilson, R. W. Hamerton, G. Williams, J. Winchester, P. S. Finlayson and F. Ramsbottom. Executive; Messrs D. Roots, P. Palmer, G. W. King, J. Peterson (Wanganui), W. Watkins, T. Geary, G. K. Taylor, V. Rockell, J. Dempsey, M. Carey, F. Coxhead, 8. Horc, P. O.Ncale, A. Robertson, E. Thompson, H. Mawhinney, W. White, R. Ellis, with president and secretary ex-officio. Supervisor: M. Carey. The programme for the forthcoming

rifle meeting, was considered, and, on the advice of the executive, last year’s programme, with one or two alterations, was adopted. It was resolved that cadets under 18 years be allowed to compete for an entrance fee of £l. A donation of £2 2s was voted to the Domain Board for the use of the shed, and £5 5s was donated to the secretary. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to donors of prizes, and a similar compliment to the chairman for the many services rendered during the year closed the meeting. WEDDING. A very pretty wedding was solemnised in St. George’s Church on Wednesday evening last, the contracting parties being Miss Molly Besley, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Besley, of “The Grove,” Whenuakura, and Mr John Govin Alexander, of Maxwell. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Majorie Besley and Miss Alexander, as bridesmaids, and the groom was supported by Mr Dixon (Wanganui) as best man, whilst Mr Alexander filled the role of groomsman The Rev. O. Gibson was the officiating minister. The church, which was very prettily decorated with flowers by friends of the bride, was crowded to the doors by well-wishers.
