The seniors could only muster 12 men to travel to Rongotea and considering the odds the game was a very even ■ one, the final score being 20 to 6. Mr i T. Goodwin was in control. ■ The juniors met Oroua Downs at I Sanson, the game being in doubt up to ! the last few minutes. The score at half- | time was 8 to nil in favour of the visitors. Hui Mai opened up their scoring j account early in the second spell and i evened up with a converted try and a I penalty. Oroua Downs again got in lead with another try but Hui Mai with another converted try again got in front. The visitors were not to be denied and put on another two tries and the game was over, the final score being 17 to 13. The thirds met a heavy Rangiotu team at Sanson and put up a solid fight. Rangiotu scored two tries in tho first spell and early in the second spell added three points. Hui Mai supporters were cheered up a bit by Jack Hammond scoring a try handy to the posts after a nice run. The kick struck the post and bounced outside. A penalty ' soon after enabled Ken Pearce to add i three points, but in the last stages J weight told its tale and the visitors • scored again just on time, the try beI ing converted, the final score being 14 : to 6. Reeve capably control- , led both games played on the local . ground. ■ Other matches in the Sub-Union’s area resulted as follows: — j Oroua Downs seniors defeated Awa- ■ huri at Oroua Downs by 9 points to nil i Awahuri juniors defeated Central at J Awahuri. Referees’ Meeting • The referees in the Sub-Union have J been asked to meet at the County Ofi fice, Sanson on Thursday at 8 p.m. • with a view to the formation of an As- ! sociation. Anybody interested in the i matter will be made welcome. The school teachers have also been asked to attend the same evening to frame rules for the control of the banner and seven-a-side competitions. It is hoped that both meetings will draw a good atendance.
