BRITAIN AND JAPAN French Hint of Secret Negotiations Against China. WARNING TO TRAVELLERS ALLEGED (By Telegraph—Per Press Assn.—Copyright.] Received May 2, 8.45 p.m. (A. & N.Z.) LONDON, May 1. The Paris correspondent of the London Daily News says that the British Foreign Office for the past fortnight has been secretly warning intending travellers against using the TransSiberian railway and the Quai o’Orsay is now acting in a similar planner. Le Matin predicts a Japanese coup de etat in China involving the occupation of Harbin and seizure of the Eastern Chinese railway.
The writer points out that a Japan-ese-Soviet war is thereby inevitable. The paper expresses the opinion that Britain and Japan are waiting word from Washington before jointly striking against the Chinese Bolsheviks.
