MARRIED WOMEN
BRITISH EMPLOYMENT BILL REJECTION BY HOUSE OF COMMONS (A. and N.Z.) LONDON, April 29. The House of Commons rejected a private Bill for regulating the employment of married women. Lady Astor, in a fighting speech, turned sharply on her opponents, natably Captain Bourne, for saying that married women were inefficient. One of the chief aims of the Bill was to prevent marriage being a bar to employment in the Civil Service.
