The Hon. W. Cecil Bridgeman (First Lord of the Admiralty) end Rear-Ad-miral Kelly will be the Empire’s principal delegates at President Coolidge’s naval conference, according to a London cable.

The death occurred at Wellington on Friday night of Brigadier Glover, a retired officer of the Salvation Army. He had been bedridden for some years. The deceased was one of the pioneer members in Canada,

Mr John Menzies, the retiring Mayor of Westport with a record of close on 13 years’ municipal service, was on Saturday evening the guest of the retiring councillors and borough staff at a social gathering, says a Press Association telegram. During tho evening Mr Menzies was preesnted with a clock for himself and a set of carvers for Mrs Menzies.

The Hon. W. Nosworthy states that Mr M. A. Gibbs, M.1.E.E., Chief Telegraph Engineer, of the P and T Department is going on May 4, by the Tainui on an extended tour to England and America to study telegraphic and wireless matters and to represent New Zealand at the International Telegraphic Conference at Washington in October.

A British wireless message states that Sir Alexander Ransford Slater, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Sierra Leone, has been appointed Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Gold Coast in sucession to Brigadier General Sir Frederick Guggisberg, whose term of office is about to expire. Brigadier-General Sir Joseph Aloysius Byrne, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Seychelles, has been appointed Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Sierra Leone.
