“PRETTY DRUNK”
MAN’S FATAL SEIZURE INQUEST AT CHRISTCHURCH IPer Press Association.] CHRISTCHI. KCH, April 29. An inquiry into the death of Timothy Hartnell, aged 66, who died suddenly last night at his placo of residence in Lincoln Road, was opened by Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., this arternoon. Evidence was given that deceased came home in the evening under the influence of liquor. He ha< some son of seizure, supposedly a fit. It was apparently assumed that the man had overindulged in liquor, which he had done on other occasions, and when his condition appeared to be serious the police woic called. Sergeant Burnett arrived and fonnd tho man dead. Askari by the Coroner why the police were sent for and not a doctor, Joseph Grafton with whom deceased boarded said “Ho was pretty id rank. I have seen him lie on the bed in a drunken state before and X thought the police would be better.” The Magistrate adjourned the inquest to await the result of a post mortem
