AMUSEMENTS AND MEETINGS

“NO, NO, NANETTE.” This morning at H. I. Jones and Son’s, Ltd., the box plans will be opened at 9 o ’clock for the two evening performances and for the afternoon representation of “No, No, Nanette,” which is to be staged by the J. C. Williamson Ltd. management by arrangement with Sir Benjamin and Mr. John Fuller, at the Opera House on Monday and Tuesday nights and on Tuesday afternoon, when children will be admitted at halfprice. This musical comedy,” wrote a Wellington critic, “has such a sparkling, catchy score, its comedy is so brilliant and spontaneous, its "whirl of dancing numbers so stimulating, and the performers show such spirit and talent of a high order, that its success in New Zealand is sure. ‘No, No, Nanetet’ received the most genial of welcomes, for the double reason that the play is plive with the gayest fun and the music tinkles merrily on the ear, and that a whole cast of charming and talented people are introduced. Among these is the volatile and magnetic actress, Miss Elsie Prince, who made an unequivocal success in the title role. Mr. Jimmy Godden, an experienced comedian of ripe intelligence and infinite resource, Mr. Charlton Morton, a brilliant young light comedian and dancer, Miss Olive Grant, a dashing London artist, Miss Elsie Parkes, Miss Gladys Hermes, Miss Nellie Dean. Mr. Claude Holland, Miss Phyllis Du Barry and others.” ‘ No, No, Nanette” is in three acts. No musical play of recent years, it is said, has embodied such faithful relation of song to story as has “No, No, Nanette,” and in that relation lies much of the world popularity it has won.
