SHOT FOR DINGO

SOUTH SEA ISLANDER SHOCK KILLED HIM. BRISBANE, April 27. A South Sea Islander named Willie Mallett was shot in mistake for a dingo at Town Mount, near Nambour, yesterday. Two farmers on a shooting expedition heard a wallaby run down a track near them. They pursued it. Mounting a stump ,one of them could see the undergrowth, which was very high, moving, and ho heard a noise which seemed to be made by young dingoes. The man fired with a shot-gun, and immediately heard a groan. Running to the spot, he found Mallett bleeding from several pellet-wounds in the legs. His mutterings were unintelligble, and he was carried to a shelter, but died before a doctor arrived. A post-mortem revealed that death was actually due to heart failure and shock.
