STOWAWAY’S EXCUSE WENT BACK TO ENGLAND LONDON, March 7. Lee Tanley "Wilkins was charged with stowing away on the steamer Rotorua. He was discovered five hours’ after the vessel’s departure, from Wellington, and worked throughout the voyage. He pleaded that, his wife was ill in England, and he had tried to obtain work enabling him to visit her. He was fined £lO.
