SHOOTING TRAGEDY
ACCIDENT WITH A GUN MAKTRTKTRT FARMER KILLED SON’S TRAGIC DLSCOVERY A well-known and highly respected resident of Makirikiri. Mr A. G. Anderson, met his death suddenly on Saturday morning, when a shotgun he was carrying went off accidentally as he was getting through a fence. Mr Anderson had left his house witfc the intention of shooting some tnrkcyn which were doing damage to a young crop on his property, and he had not been away long when the tragic discovery of his body was made by his eldest son. There was a severe wound in tho side, and death must have been instantaneous. A Popular Farmer Deceased, who was 60 years of agn came from Scotland when a young man. He was farming in Taranaki for several years, but his homo has been at Makirikiri fo- the last twenlv years. He was a suecessful farmer and wns intimately riuinected with the life of the district Be rendered good se-vrcc as chairman of the Makirikiri branch of the Farmers’ Union and local representative on the Wanganui Provincial Council of that bony. Of a generous and kindly nature, he was ever ready to assist in any worthy movement, and his death is a distinct loss to the district. Deceased leaves a widow and an adult familv.
