A cablegram from London reports the death of Mr Henry Frowde, late publisher to the University of Oxford, aged 86.
A Cairo message states that Captain Warner, formerly of Christchurch, is the first pilot of the Cairo-Basra air service, which King Fuad has christened.
Mr Maurice Ralph, representing E. J. Gravestock, was a visitor to Wanganui on Saturday. He is making arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Miss Phyllis Lett, the English contralto.
Captain J. B. Rainey, of Wellington, was a week-end arrival at Foster s Hotel. He is connected with the Com monwealth and Dominion Shipping Company.
Mr W. H. Ward, who recently passed the final theory examination for the degree of bachelor of engineering, leaves to-day for Wellington, whence he will leave by the lonic for England, to pursue the practical side of his studies with Vickers Ltd., of Manchester.
Miss Zeid a A. Wallace, daughter oT Mr and Mrs F. O. Wallace, of Wanganui, leaves to-day for Wellington, in which city she will join the nursing staff of the public hospital. Miss Wallace who has been prominent in the Girl Guide movement locally has been captain of the sth Company of the Sr. Andrew’s troop since its formation.
